As a member of the Jersey Social Security scheme, you can benefit from coverage of emergency hospitalisation during a temporary stay in France, provided that you are a citizen of France or Jersey. This option is extended to your family members accompanying you onto French territory.
Are you eligible?
You must be French or a citizen of Jersey.
If this is not the case:
- Check with your Social Security organisation whether it covers healthcare in France.
- If not, you are advised to take out travel insurance covering any medical costs you may incur on French territory.
Before coming to France
- Ask the competent Jersey authorities for a Form FJ7 (Rights to medical care on French territory applicable under the franco-Jersey agreement).
- This Attestation Certificate is valid for 12 months from its date of issue, but your stay in France must not exceed 3 months.
Emergency hospitalisation
- Present your form to the hospital admission service, which will apply for coverage of your hospitalisation costs from the Paris primary health insurance fund.
- You will only have to pay the health establishment the costs that usually remain payable by French members.
These provisions are applicable to the family members listed on your Attestation Certificate (Form FJ7).
In case of unfitness for work occurring in France
The France and Jersey health agreement does not cover payment of the cash benefits (daily allowances) of the health insurance scheme.
